It only takes about USD$50 to support a single child in a private school for one (1) year, and depending on their age, they will be schooled for 1-3 years, the youngest usually being 4 years old. Government schooling does not start until the age of 7 and is not mandatory; however, when children attend private schools at an earlier age, it keeps them in school and helps reduce the number of children who choose a life of begging in the streets.
